Hi guys,
I just got a scsi hd and controller which is LSI controller (LSIU160) and ibm scsi hd from the storage review deal. :)
And i don't know anything about scsi, i buy this because i really want to try scsi for a long time.
now i confuse what i need to do ^_^. i don't have any clue how to install it.
can sombody help me with the step to install it? :)
the setup will be only that ibm hd and the controller (since i don't have any other scsi pheriperals :) )

i don't have the hd cooler at this time and i heard that IBM drive will be very hot. is it ok i install it without hd cooler or i need to wait for it first. ?

just in case somebody wondering, yes, i bought the cable and the terminator too. :)

if not, could someone tell me where i can find the information to install it? and do i need some kind of software?

Thank you in advance for the answer :)

if your running xp for an os you won't need drivers.it will install fine.
i got in on the same deal and dual booted 98 and xp since you get a bare card(no drivers/manual) from lsi and ibm i will include links to the websites.also i didn't change anything on the drive i just popped it in and let it rip.

win 95/98/me drivers for lsi u160
win xp for lsi u160
for any other os for lsi u160
ibm pdf (manual) file for 36z15 drives in case you need jumper settings etc...

together with the links given by EKAtBzboyz you should be well armed for the battle ahead lol

enjoy and if you need anything just pm me and don't worry i asked the same questions and was just as nervous lol

hope this helps
mike
edit:
i bought a hdd cooler at Svcompucycle Hard Disk Cooler w/80mm 0612817 1 2.99
Fan (yes a cheapy)and i don't notice the heat since i also have 4 case fans running but it is really quieter than i expected,if you transfer big files the ibm will let you know its on the job but not quite the screamer i had heard about i have been running about two weeks now non stop and i can touch the drive, its warm but not as hot as storagereview said maybe i just got lucky?
