I'm the customer of an D815EEA and a 866eb PIII. I have just buyed a memory module from mushkin(256mb pc133 rev2 cas 2.2.2); when I boot my pc, an error msg appears: Serial presence detect (spd) device data missing or inconclusive). The memory comes seen from the bios like one normal pc100, and the performances are smaller respect one normal memory no branded pc133 cas3. Can it depends from the particular intel bios that doesn't accept the mushkin memory? Or can depend on the memory that does not work? Mushkin Tech. supp. answered this: Your Intel board is looking for information we do not program on our spd.Nothing wrong with spd or memory; it simply doesn't include info specifically for Intel.
It's true? I'm now looking for a motherboard like an asus cusl2... what do you think about? thanks if you will answer, and excuse me for my bad English. Vincenzo from Italy.

Have you tested the RAM with another board? Have you tried using other RAM in this board?

I have an Intel D815EEAL and am using Crucial PC133 with no problems.

"we do not program on our spd" sounds like a copout to me.
My Crucial PC133 128's work fine.

I have not still tried the memory with an other motherboard (I have not still bought)and I do not have a friend who possesses recent computers to try the mushkin on it. All with old computers 486,133,166mhz not mmx! if I use with my D815EEA a normal memory no named cas3 pc133 the computer has better performance that mushkin memory and no error message on boot bacause I have seen that the Intel d815eea bios don't understands the spd of mushkin memory and it makes to work the mushkin memory like one normal cas 3 pc100. Mushkin tech. supp. says that the memory does not have problems or defects(see up on my 1st post what they answered). This memory I have bought new and the confection has arrived intact to my home, in Italy.I cannot believe that I have received one defective memory. Any suggestion?

Damn...there can't be too many places in Italy where you can get tech support. I was there a year ago and I still saw cows in the streets. Maybe they could help you.;)

What Mushkin told you is standard practice as far as how many companies pre-program their memory module SPD's. Crucial does it as well. Just go in to the BIOS and set the memory parameters as they should be for your type of memory (in your case, I'd bet that only the CAS number is wrong, it's probably set to 3, so change it to 2).

I have seen the exact error message with the same Intel mobo with Crucial, Mushkin, PNY, and Kingston memory.

x Midnight Rambler:
therefore you are saying me that the problem regards the bios of my motherboard?I have changed the timing of the latency since the beginning (2-2-2)but the memory comes seen as a pc100. it is a relief for me to know that the problem is in the bios and not in the memory. But why with other no branded memory my mobo works well?

Hmm, I see, you have already corrected the settings that I was referring to. :(

That's fixed any problems I have had when I got that SPD error message on boot. Sorry.

Mushkin has great memory and normally good support too. Ask for a replacement. Another option is to try Intel tech support.

I can't help you, but I'm having the same problem too. I just got that same motherboard, and it gives the same error with my Infineon 256MB PC133 RAM. I can set it to 2-2-2, but it's still stuck at 100mhz. I was running this RAM on another (crappier, except for this problem) board at PC133 and 2-2-2 with no problems.

If anyone figures this out... :(
