help!!! - which pc to buy?????

hi everyone..... well... title says it all.... i need a new pc and need some adviec as to what to get..... i cannot spend too much - about £900 - £1050 depending on how good the deal is. i have been looking around and have seen 2 PCs which are fairly well speced, and in my price range. the only problem is... i have no clue as to how good the motherboards are... the two motherboards that they use are the asus a7n266 and the a7m266.... i know that the chipsets are nForce and ALiMagic - i have heard that they are both nothing special and nowhere near the quality of something like the kt266a. i would just buy one of these systems, and change the mobo in about a year, but therre is one problem.... they both have Windows XP pre installed on them, and this means that the OS recgnises its on the right system by accessing some info located in the bios - im not sure but thats wat ive heard. n e way... so im not sure if there would be a problem in installing XP after i upgrade my mobo.. would there be??? also, if n e one knows of n e good deals in the price range im looking for please let me know!

PS - im looking for something a spec similar to this:
AMD Athlon XP processor
DDR RAM - 256MB at least
decent Graphics - dont need n e thing special as i dont play games often
at least approx 40GB hard drive
DVD ROM
CD-RW - must be BURN proof
decent 17in crt monitor - flat screen!! - mid range will do.
sound - not too bothered - something mid range again - but onboard will do
speakers - not too bothered something mid range again.
OS - MUST be Windows XP!!!

i would, but then i wouldnt get XP with it... if i bought one XP would come with it... but if i built one, then id have to pay for XP separately which would make the cost go way too high.
