In my experinces

Amex Blue is pretty good. You get some cash back, which means it is basically free to run (if you use it a bit). Service is second to none, although overseas it isnt the most widely accepted.

Visa is great for travelling. Works in a lot of places that don't accept Discover or Amex (esp Asia, Oceania and Europe)

If you travel a lot (or want to) you should get a credit card that gives you mileage points. I have a United Milage Plus card and I just got a "free" round trip ticket from Maui to Colorado. Customer service wise they are great also.

American Express....Ive had one for about a year and a half and have had no problems at all and their customer service is great. Got a Platnium Delta SkyMiles card and already have enough miles for 2 Roundtrip tickets anywhere in the US. :)

Clicking this link will tell you alot about credit card companies. I have a card from nextcard and citibank and both seem great to me.

Get a GM Card (or Ford card, etc.).

Everybody buys cars, so you might as well earn money toward one.

On a side note, I just got an Amex Blue and it's cool, smart card.

There are none. Credit card companies only make money if you do not pay off the complete balance each and every month. If you pay every month, they make zip! They entice you with 'offers' and hope like Hell you screw up. Do yourself a favor and NEVER get one! There ARE alternatives.

Public Enemy #1 = Credit Card Companies.

Credit Card Companies also make money by negotiating vendor discounts. Thats why a lot of companies wont give you a discount if you buy using a credit card.

From my travelling overseas (including lots of whackass places) the only cards i have seen with really good acceptance are

Visa
Bankcard
Amex
Diners (so so)
Mastercard

you also want an amex, just in case.

visa has a sony card, if you get electronics.
