My Technology professor made us get into groups to write a paper on how VLSI chips have changed in the past 20 years. My group has to write about the communications side of the VLSI chips. We came up with subjects such as phones, tv, computer networking, internet etc... Well, my group leader assigned me to do a paper on VLSI chips used on the Internet. I thought this was pretty easy and I'll just search the web for VLSI chips used on early modems through the modems we use today (dsl, cable). I've been searching but i couldn't find anything about the VLSI chips used on modems and how they've changed. Can you guys help me find info so i can start my paper? Thanks!!!

Or is there another way i can relate the VLSI chips for the use of internet?

VLSI the class or the manufacturer?

Edit: by the definition of what was once VLSI, we're now into HSTiFLSI (holy s.., this is freaking large scale integration)
