HELP! Where can I buy an M-16?

I have a friend who is home from the Marines and is desperately desiring to fire one once in awhile. So... I want sellers and I want prices. Anybody know about any of that out there?

I don't believe those are legal. The only way is if they can be made into a semi auto, which might not be possable. I am not a huge gun man, but many here are.

The M16 is a fully automatic weapon which means that, unless you have the proper federal and state licensing, it is illegal to buy or sell.

I saw plenty of fully automatic weapons at a gun show (buy/sell) last year.. i wanted an ingram m11 but it had a hefty price 😉

I saw a website where you could order ak-47 in semi auto but they said all you have to do is remove a pin and it will be full auto

Just follow the rap music to your local drug dealer. If he doesn't have one for ya, he can hook ya up...homie.

You need a license, and it's only legal in certain states. You must also get a legal M-16, which costs quite a bit. Tell him to get an AR15, just the same as an M-16, but it wont get full-auto. Significantly cheaper, and easier to get.

Just remove the pin?

I thought it was up,up,down,down,left,right,B,A,select,start...

Too bad machine guns are one of the few things you can't get on eBay.

<< What you are looking for is an AR15.......If you can find someone selling one. I love my AR15 carbine. >>

No, there are legal ways to acquire a legal, fully automatic M-16. It just involves a lot of hoop jumping and some $$$. However, the AR15 option is much easier and cheaper.

I'm as an expert with all aspects of the AK-47 as you are likely to find....THAT is a false statement!

To convert requires two holes drilled into the receiver, the proper hardware, and a bolt carrier designed for full auto....no other way...

wasn't that cheat for the NES game "lifeforce"? >>

Nope, that code is from Contra 🙂

LOL when I saw that cheat code, I couldn't help laughing. I've been playing GTA3 for the past 4 hours.

Basically, you can get an AR-15 at any gun shop. There are Colt, Armalite, Bushmaster,DPS and several other clones. Price range from approx $600 to Sky's the limit, depending on options. I own Bushmaster XM-16 A2 18 inch carbine plain jane picked it up couple years $575 excellent fun!!. Cheaperthandirt.com sells ammo 1000 round $200.

<< Modern M-16s arent full auto. They are selective fire. Three round burst or single shot. >>

Technically, Colt did make some M-16A2's full auto. They just werent government A2's. However, a M16 that you could legally buy had to have been made before 1986. The M16A2 started production in 1984, and almost ALL of them went to government, meaning very few are on the market. Compared to the production run of the M-16A1, started in the 60's, you're chances of picking up an M-16A1 is much higher than an A2 (legally). The M16A3 is full auto, BTW, and is (obviously) more recent than the -A2 (though the -A4 is 3 round burst only, IIRC).

<< Mookow... how? I don't care... I'd prefer to do it legally. >>

You need to see if your state allows Class III licenses. If not, then you cant. Then, you have to check county/city laws, make sure they dont stop you, either (easiest way is to just ask your local authorities). You also need to register it, and do a bunch of other crap. Good luck.

Nice little link explaining it

What you want is a Colt Lightweight Sporter. This is what used to be called the AR-15, but those were banned (by name). Colt was out of production for about a year before one of their attorneys noticed that they hadn't made an AR-15 in years, they had changed the name long before the ban went into effect.

Don't skimp, get the Colt. There are plenty of pre-ban high capacity mags at gun shows.

Good Luck and Good shooting.

But, don't shoot at people. The .223 is a poodle shooter.

The Army is selling M-1's for $500 and it is a MUCH better weapon. Semi-Auto 30-06. Patton said "In my opinion, the M1 Rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised"

Don't believe it! The 30-06 and later the .308 Winchester were replaced for good reason....

I smell a good debate comin!🙂
