help! when installing software i get an error saying 'an I/O error occured.............

this happens when installing the half life patch. i've tried downloading the patch off the net, and using the one off of the opposing force, both get that error message
i think i may have messed up installshield(went into it's folder and deleted the wrong thing) because other games like red alert 2 won't install, everything was fine on thursday though

i've gone threw DM and looked for conflicts, found none, tried installing in safe mode, same error. i've recently formatted, maybe i i missed reinstallaing something

I had this happen to me when I was trying to install Half-life: Blue shift on my AMD rig with an A7V133, but yet it would load fine on my PIII on CUSL2-C. Constantly got that same error no matter what I tried!! Finally got fed up and installed the latest BIOS file for the A7V133 and the problem was gone :) . Can't say that would be the same for you, but it may be worth a try. Good luck.

well, its installed on this system fine before, i've emailed sierra tech support but if anyone else has any ideas they're welcome :D
