Damn it.
i have a k7s5a with 1.4ghz tbird AYHJA and a SK-6 + delta fan.
Ok, i am getting beep codes... so I remove all the IDE drives,,, still beeps (2 very short beeps, 8 longer beeps... long pause... then 3 beeps)
- i remove video card,,, same beeps
- I tried both DDR ram and SDRAM ,,, both on different slots. same beeps
- I remove RAM,,, i get no beeps and it takes about 4 seconds before it powers down when i press the power button
- I put ram back, take out CPU,,, no beeps.
- With the CPU still out, i connect everything else and no beeps (turns off after like a second of pressing the power button)
- I put CPU back in,,, beeps the same code.

Does this mean that my CPU is bad? (I think so) I have no way of testing this CPU... and I thought it was my motherboard (my first one was physically damaged) at first. Now, i just got my k7s5a today and it's the same thing (with different beep codes of course.)

Do you get any beeps if you put a fried CPU into a motherboard?

HELP ME PLEASE? I live in the east coast in NJ by Fort Lee/ New York. If you know of any computer stores that would test my CPU (1.4ghz TBIRD AYHJA) please tell me. The CPU does get hot when I leave it on.

It could be as simple as properly seating your video card and ram. In some cases it can take quite a bit of pressure if the slots are tight.

i reseated my video card and ram more than 5 times. I tried the video card on this computer i'm using now so i know it works. The ram is a different story,,, but why would I get the same beep codes if I used a stick of SDRAM that I know that works (on this computer right now).,,,
