I got this Windows machine with a P4 2.4Ghz in it, and I enabled the onboard sound via the mobo bios because I want to be able to use sound. Problem is, windows isnt picking up the sound card, so I assume I need drivers.

Next problem - I got no fuckn idea what mobo the mobo is or where to get the drivers for it.

I installed our trusty friend SiSoftware Sandra by a reccomendation of a friend, but I guess I'm just REALLY dumb and cant figure this out. Here's a pic of my system stats: http://www.ioftpd.net/help.JPG

Can anyone tell me:
#1) What my mobo is (and maybe a support page to it?)
#2) If you know/can find any link to where I can get the drivers to enable the onboard sound. I've been guessing numbers outta waht SiSoft is telling me and googling for drivers based on them and have been thus far unsuccessful. I'm feeling pretty dumb to ask such a question, but I've wasted enough of my time (and will continue to do so as I wait for a response and keep googling) so I figured I'd ask.

OK, got it I think (duh, right after I post I find it and look like an idiot of course)

Via Technologies, and the version fo the board is on that JPG I posted -- although I'm still working on the driver itself, im now confident I can.

You can all disregard this post and laugh at me for being stupid ;-)

Thanks a ton for all the help -- I'm actually still having a few problems.

The machine is Windows 2003. I downloaded the audio drivers reccomended on the site, and I get "The device cannot start, Code 10"

Any ideas?

OK got it to start, it was conflicting with another device, but it still doesnt work (WMP says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly.")

I'm about ready to give up unless anyone has any good ideas

Try going into your device manager, removing any and all sound devices present. Restart you PC and see if it will pick up on your sound card. Then install the drivers you downloaded.

Actually, I believe I figured out what the problem is -- and I'm a bit stumped as to how to fix it.

When I log in on the machine itself, the sound works just fine. I'd been doing this stuff through termserv, and I have "bring sound to this machine" checked. When I do this, it fails, and says the sound card is fu**ed up.

Any ideas as to why this would happen or how to fix it?

That could be the reason why they had it disabled. It might be better to go out and buy a cheap sound card for replacement.
