Hotmail works fine for me. URL re-directs like that are usually a sign of spyware.
Run ad-aware!

A redirect like that usually is when IE can't find a page.. it cycles through .org, .edu, .whatever in an attempt to get to a page incase you misstyped it or forgot an extension.

IE does not do this. It does suggest similarly spelled webpages though but does not actually go there.

No, it actually scrolls through like he said.

Not IE as in interenet explorer. I don't know what browser you're using but when I type in an unknown URL all I get is a "we can't find pagename" did you mean one of the following? Then it lists similar names or names on a different name which I gets from melbourneit. It most certainly doesn't go around roguely hitting all sorts of pages!
If this actually does happen to you, maybe the both of you have the same piece of spyware installed...
