I just purchased a watercooling kit from danger den but have run into a problem and fricken dangerden will not return my emails!
On both the Black Ice Extreme radiators and the Floppy Cube Resevoir thing, you have to screw in the plastic barbs yourself. When i tried screwing them in with some barbs i didn't need thaty only screw in half way before they get real tight and if you tighen em anymore the threads starts to get detoryed and you need to remove the barbs with a wrench. Is this how it si suppsoed to bo do you only screw in the barbs until it can't go by hand anymore? If i screw them in ALL the way (would require a wrench) they will be unuseable if ever removed. Also the floppy resavoir comes with 3 rubber o-rings that look liek they go at the end of the threads on each barb but in order for them to work you need to screw them in ALL the way. On the floppy if screwed all the way at least a quarter to half the threads will be inside the resevoir wall.

Please help me as i do not want to buy more barbs for $1 each but then pay $24 to have them overnighted to me!!!

first off. if you need more barbs, go to menards...

second, wrap some teflon tape aruond it 8x, then screw in by hand and give it a few turns with a wrench. get it snug, but don't strip or overtighten. the system isn't presurized so it doesn't have to be super tight, but you don't want them too loose. start off with them a bit looser if your'e scared of overtightening, then run the setup (outside of your comptuer) for 12 hrs on *and* leave it sit for 12 hours off. My system once only leaked when it was off. If you get leaks. try to tighten up a bit more.

hope that helps,

I have no idea what a merards is. I went to home depot and lowes and both did not have these size barbs in brass or plastic. I was told to go to this mom and pops hardware store ut they were close, and then i was told to go to ace hardware which i couldn't find! I am already getting impatient since i deploy within a month so i said screw it and had them overnighted lol.

so if they are not meant to tbe screwed all the way in, why are the o-rings supplied with the resevoir?

DO NOT SCREW THE MOUNTING SCREWS IN ALL THE WAY. In fact look for shorter screws with the same threads. To put it blatantly all bay rez's suck!

This will explain why I don't like any bay res.

As for tightening barbs in I just wrap a little teflon tape on the end of them and screw them in as far as the tape is wide on the threads.
The O-rings do not get used with the barbs on the res. They are only for the 2 caps(fill cap, and 3rd hole cap if your not using the third hole.) They just give you extra.

Hope that helps.

lmao that is good advice! I actually as looking at the bay rez yesterday and htought hte samethign as on that thread you gave me! Thought why didn't they put the moutning plates ont he ouside rather than a "patch" on the inside. However I wasn't even going to use the rez's mounting holes to mount it so I am good there. And thanks i dunno what i was thinking about the o-rings ur so right but i suppose hindsight is 20/20!

Welp that makes 2 of you saying not to screw in the barbs all the way so i am going to go ahead and start putting this thing together.
