Hi guys. first post here. a few days ago i bought a new case, mobo (A8V Deluxe) and winchester 3200+ AMD 64. I also bought the thermalright XP-90 Heat sink for it. i have successfully transferred my hardware from my old computer to this new one and am running 1gb of ram, a 9800 pro and a 350 PSU. OK. now to my problem. windows runs fine on this system. my cpu idles at 31 degrees celcius and all programs in windows that i have installed so far have worked fine, except for the 4.12 catalyst drivers.

when installed, the catalyst control centre funtion fails to load at start up and in windows i get 2 errors saying the program failed to load. i reinstalled the catalyst this time with just the drivers, ;eaving the catalyst control centre feature out.

the main problems start when i play half life 2 or cs source. in the stress test from CS:S, the spinning things at the start are all replaced with the word "Error" however this doesnt affect the game and it continues through the stress test and completes it fine, on full video settings except AA and AF. upon playing CS:S, what happens varies, sometimes freezing and resetting while loading the game, and sometimes after the first 20 seconds of entering the game it will freeze. playing half life 2 for the first time on this computer, crashed after 10 mins or so of playing. however just now i played for over 20 minutes without any errors. however, when moving around there occasionally appears to be thin lines of colour on the walls and all, i suspect due to the graphics card, although on my previous comp i had beaten the game just fine. these glitches also occur in CS:S.

I have dled all the web updates, the latest drivers for the 9800 and even installed Service Pack 2. still these effects occur. after doing all this i believed that the problem could be attributed to HL2 itself so, i installed NFSU2 to test what i believed to be the problem, however less than half a minute into a race, the screen freezes and i have to reboot.

Any help will be greatly appreciated as i have spent the last 6 hours tring to get this to work but to no avail.
