SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs routine design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical components, sub-systems and systems. Conducts routine analyses and/or tests pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials or processes. Completes required documentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Research, plan and design mechanical and electromechanical products and systems.
Direct and coordinate the activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems.
Research and analyze data such as customer design proposals, specifications and manuals to determine the feasibility of design or application.
Design products or systems, such as instruments, controls, engines, machines and mechanical thermal, hydraulic or heat transfer systems, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
Devise appropriate tests to evaluate, debug and check systems. Document the results of complex analysis and design tasks.
Assist in developing standards and techniques.
Attend meetings as required.
OTHER RELATED DUTIES:
Assists in writing technical proposals.
Assists in preparing and maintaining ISO 9001 compliant engineering processes and procedures.
Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION (OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE):
Bachelor?s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a combination of formal education and experience equivalent to a four-year college degree.
At least two years of applicable mechanical engineering experience.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Knowledge and understanding of current engineering practices and standards.
Knowledge of microprocessors and microcomputers.
Ability to apply the principles and techniques of mechanical design engineering to specific projects.
Ability to manage engineering projects efficiently and effectively.
Ability to provide technical leadership to other engineers, technicians and technical support personnel.
Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully in both oral and written form.
Ability to write and prepare a variety of technical reports, manuals and other types of written communications.
Ability to analyze data, resolve problems and make decisions independently. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.
Ability to operate computers to input and retrieve data accurately.
Ability to travel as required by the Company.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance in accordance with the contract requirements.
