Ok i am fairly technical have built computers for many years etc but I need help to get into the video pc for my home network. Overall my objective is to drop the FIOS rental STBs I have now either go with the Ceton or Silicondust. Here is what I have in the house ( or should I say what I plan to have soon).
My office
Have my main computer i5-2400 8gb ddr3 1tb samsung drive video is intel HD2000. Also just added a server box with mitx board and a Celeron G440 with 2tb green drive. In my office is the FIOS router (which has both coax and ethernet type cable into it.) which is wireless (from verizon).
Wife hobby room
she has a amd atlon 250 with a 4650 video card D-Link wireless adapter (300) to connect to the net
Main TV
40in samsung led lcd connect to computer with HDMI video is 6570 radeon 8 gb memory and 1 tb drive wireless connection (d-link again). There is FIOS coax there for the STB now
2nd TV area
37inch lcd to amd a-8 3850 8gb memory the apu driving the tv, also wireless. There is FIOS coax there now for the STB
NOW my problem
Do I connect a silicondust prime in my office at the router and stream live tv out to the 2 tv and record any shows to stream later. Will i be able to do this and will i need to get rid of the wireless router of verizon which seems to be a "G" router and go "N"? Will I be able to stream HD tv shows from this and have good picture quality?
OR
Do I connect a Ceton card inside the computer that is with MAIN TV which ensures I have great quality picture there. This would force me to stream to 2nd tv from the main tv computer. Second subset of this would be to put a Silicondust prime here put a second router here and run wireless network just for video in addition to the existing network for the internet.
I really do not want to wire ethernet cable into the 2 video areas (wife would have a s@## fit doing that.
I think the plan of putting the prime unit in the office makes sense I can live with 3 tuners BUT only if the picture quality is what i have now otherwise the nagging factor out weighs getting rid of the STBs
No matter what i will run media center7
Any and all opinions and advice will be greatly appreciated
Ceton, home theater, homerun prime, windows media center7, wireless video
