Hey guys, I am gonna be buying a new system to replace what I currently have. I am planning to sell my current 6800 and move to a PCI express card. Here is what I am planning to buy:

Venice 3000+ or 3200+
Chaintech VNF4
X800XL or 6800 gt

The main question is related to my Power Supply. I have an X-Alien with the Aspire 420W PSU, the specs are as follows:

3.3 volt - 28A
5 volt - 40A
12 volt - 18A

will the PSU I have be able to supply enough power to the 6800 gt or the X800XL or do I have to buy another one?

That's an old design with way too many amps on the +5 and too few on the +12. Want to see around 25A or more on the +12 from a recently designed 420W PSU. Take a look at the Xclio 400 or 450 on Newegg for some good examples of modern design.

while what zepper says is true, my recommendation would be to check the chaintech site for requirements. and make sure you decide on whether or not you plan on oc'ing. either way, 18a on the 12v is too low.

i wan't impressed with the x-clio. i'll use it an htpc tho, it is nice and quiet.
