Ok, it wouldn't do anything before I left, now that I'm back - I've made some progress.

system comprises...
Chaintech 6VIA5T mobo
P3 1.13ghz cpu
512mb & 256mb pc133 sticks
AGP riser card
AGP ATI AIW Radeon 7500

it beeps & boots to the first POST screen (most often I cannot see anything on the monitor though) because right after the memory test, it reboots.
If I try to press DEL to access the BIOS, even when I can see that it hasn't finished the memory test - it just makes it reboot.

any suggestions ?
TIA

1) Have you flashed your BIOS recently?

2) Have you tried removing the different sticks of RAM when booting up?

3) Possibly a power supply problem?

#1. This has been happening from the get go, I haven't been able to even try flashing the bios
#2. I tried removing the 256 stick - i guess I'll try swapping out the 512mb
#3. I thought maybe so too, but the same thing happens with a different good PSU

when all else fails clear the bios... I've had several times where the machine wouldn't boot and reseting the bios fixes it.. other than that I'd guess bad ram

Hey man, you mean clear the CMOS ?

k, tried it with just the 256mb & it didn't reboot.
but then trying to plug in other add-ins & wouldn't boot at all.
then removed them again & now it's always rebooting like before.

i'll try clearing the CMOS next
