Hey Everyone,

I'm building this desktop here:
http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2154687&enterthread=y

Today fry's has a Q6600 and ECS GF7100PVT-M for $289.99.

Here's specs on the mb here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...66&Tpk=ECS%2bGF7100PVT

Do you think this combo would suit my needs? I just learned yesterday that I got accepted into an MBA program so I might need to do some statistical analysis so hence the interest in the quad core cpu.

The only thing that concerns me is that it does DDR800 in single channel.

Would it be better to possibly buy this combo and sell the mb? If so, could I realistically get ~$40-$45 for it on anandtech? Then I could use that towards another mb.

What other mb in the <$100 range would you recommend?

I'm stoked to learn that now I'm a student, I can get Vista Ultimate for $100 along w/ other killer discounts on things like Office. I'm SO GLAD I didn't open the Vista upgrade I bought from Fry's the other day!!!! ;)

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
Pete

Do not use ECS motherboards... I'd rather not have a computer at all than use an ECS motherboard.

ABIT IP35-e like the other guy said in the other thread
