Ok kids, in expressing my frustration w/ me new hd at class I was directed here by one of this site's frequenters.
I just got a new hd, put on win 98 (don't yell at me I am jususing the damned thing for docs, mp3s, and dvds) and then began to install drivers. Now when I reached my sound driver (TBS Montango), which I have installed and uninstalled frequently from my old hd without any problems such as this, everythign went to hell. First off, Windows didn't want to install it as it felt its driver, one that dissalowed me to hear soudn from my speakers, was better. After forcing the install it decided to get stuck on the very last of the drivers I was installing, my cd made no noise, and eventually the widnow just dissapeared without any acknowledgment of a successful instalation. Upon restart my computer the openign Windows screen hung (and still hangs) for (and I timed it) 36 seconds before letting me into windows. Now occaisionally it won't even finish starting up and just hangs at the background screen.
I have tried to delete all the drivers but one of them apparently is working in cohorts with an anonymous drive and won't tell me which one and therefore won't let me remove it. I have disabled it. the thing is, though all drivers are removed, and or disabled, it hasn't affected my computer's performace.
Please Help!
