I have a Gainward GF2 Pro/450 on an Epox 8K7A, 1.4 tbird, 512mb DDR, TB Santa Cruz, burner, DVD, Intel NIC, Antec SX1040B, and Sony 19". I have been running Win ME and UT runs incredible (I run it at 1024X768X32) with all the goodies on. I recently went to Win 2k (the reason I switched from a Radeon to a GF2 Pro) and UT is somewhat choppy - but only in the mouse movements. If I'm moving with the keyboard it's smooth, but the mouse is choppy. I loaded the mouse drivers ( I have a MS intellimouse optical) and tried it on the PS2 and USB ports (the drivers helped out somewhat) but it's still choppy. I finally had to make a 10 gig partition and load Win ME to get back the really smooth gameplay. I have all the mb drivers and SP2 for 2K and the rest of my games (Q3, Max Payne, NFSPU, Colin McRae 2, Serious Sam) run as well or even better under 2K.
Please help me out here because I see on the forums and in published benchmarks that most of you are getting good play in UT under Win 2K. I really don't want a dual boot system, but there is a real difference the way UT plays in Win ME and Win 2k.

Go into the Mouse control panel(in the control panel) and change the "polling rate" to the maximum, I think it is 100. That should help.

I did try to set the rate to 100, but the USB connection was a little better. Sadly though, still somewhat choppy. Hopefully I'm not expecting too much, but with the GF2 set at 215 / 460 I really thought the Win 2K would do it. Unfortunately, really the only game that doesn't run well is the one I play 80% of the time.

I'm thinking of purchasing the same card to upgrade my V3 3000 and only play UT on P3-1G and don't want to run in to the same problem (W2K, G2 Pro, MS Optical & UT). Have you figured out the problem yet?

There is a "compatibility" download for games on MS's site that I downloaded. So far it's now running just about the same as ME and there are so many more advantages to 2K, I'll live with it.

Are you running Det3 drivers?

I had the same problem at the highest settings with UT under 2K until I moved to the Det4s. Now, 1600x1200x32 is pretty d@mn smooth under Win2K and anything less then that is like buttah. This is with the same board you have BTW.

Actually I have run 12.41, 14.xx, and 21.81 and they all did the same thing, except the 21.81 had MUCH richer color and a little better detail. With better pic quality, I really didn't care if they were faster.
I got the answer on the HardOCP forums though. It is the ACPI of Win 2k! Once I changed it from ACPI to a standard PC, it was as smooth as ME! I guess the GF2's just don't like to share that much. The only problem now is that I'm going to have to reformat and reload to dump the ME partition, but this time it's going to be fun!
Thanks for all the suggestions and to sep don't even hesitate, get this card! The 2d IS as good as the Radeon, and the 3d is incredible! I have a V3 3k on both my wifes machine (P3 750) and my 4 yr. olds computer (Celeron 566) and they play UT great but overall the GF2 Pro/450 is lightyears ahead.

I have Windows 2000 and I experience the very same problem. I just play that game at 800x600 and the mouse moves around perfrectly fine. It's a weird little glitch, but what can ya do? =\
