help w/ a new computer

I'm planning on building a new computer with a VERY VERY VERY limited budget. What I was thinking of doing is buying a Duron for now and OC'ing it then getting the Athlon 4 when it comes out. That really shouldn't be a problem, as I understand that the athlon 4 should be backwards compatible with most socket A mobo's.

What I want is to get the computer now, then add to it as time goes on. A GeForce 3 is on my list of extensions; I simply just don't have the money to buy a GF3 and a new computer at the same time. I figure I have two options: get a regular mobo with a cheap graphics card (probably Kyro II) and upgrade when I get the money. OR I could forgo the Kyro and opt for a mobo with the nForce chipset (integrated GF2 MX graphics) when it comes out. The nforce is gonna be more expensive than other mobos (around 200$), but you still get good graphics and sound considering that they are integrated.

Another question is whether a lower-end Duron (around 700 mhz) will work on the nforce if i decide to get a board with that. Tell me what you think guys.

A great value would be an Athlon 1.2 Ghz 266 FSB chip (95$) on a MSI K7 Master (129$). With the excellent AMD 761 chipset, DDR Ram and a 266 FSB this system can move data. It's bandwith capabilities are very impressive which should make you high end gamers and video freaks happy.

I am going with the Mother of all Motherboards myself: The Tyan Thunder K7
After rigging a power supply and using a regular athlon, I'm sure I'll have good stories to tell.

The mobo with the integrated nforce and sound seems to be a little bit on the high end, price wise. I'll say buy un-integrated mobo and a GF2MX and probably come less than $200.00. I bought an Abit KT7E($90.00), which is exactly the same as a KT7A except for the onboard sound, a D-700($40.00) and GF2MX($60.00) for a total of $190.00 plus S&H. I've updated the D-700 to A-1.3Ghz for $110.00 and the system is the best I've had. Before this I had a P-700@933 on a BX Board which was fine but was getting old to the tooth.😎
