I just replaced my All in Wonder Card with a VisionTek Radeon 9100 AGP card. I followed instructions about removing old card and drivers and adding new card and drivers. When I re-booted, I received a device failure error message and only VGA resolution. I read where this card likes IRQ 11 and does not like to share IRQ. I saw IRQ 11 was also used by my on-board Ethernet adapter, so I disabled Ethernet in Bios, rebooted, and everything was fine with video card. I have a Soyo Dragon MB and Windows XP Professional. Now I need to know how to change IRQ for ethernet, so I can re-enable it. Device manager is greyed out for resource settings for both the video card and the ethernet adapter. I also left on-board ethernet disabled and put in a PCI Ethernet card. Now Network Card is given IRQ 11 by the MoBo and Sound (built in) shares IRQ 10 with video card. Still getting video errors despite re-installing XP (clean install) and D/L latest drivers from ATI. Does anyone know how I can get video to use IRQ 11 and sound/network to use IRQ 10? I have tried reserving various IRQ's in Bios while enabling sound, video and ethernet separately, but always end up with configuration mentioned above. (IRQ 11-Network, IRQ 10-Video and sound)

Go to device manager and under "Computer" you'll see "Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC." Windows is treating your PC as ACPI compliant and so will not let you change any IRQ settings. You need to have 'Standard PC' showing instead. To do this, you must disable ACPI in your BIOS. After that you must reinstall Windows. Why? From Microsoft's website:
If you want to disable ACPI support after Windows 2000 is installed, you must reinstall Windows 2000 with APCI disabled in the computer's BIOS. Because numerous changes are made to the registry and system files, an upgrade installation does not work.
Same applies for XP. After that you should be able to manually specify IRQ/resource settings for your hardware. You may be able to do a "Repair" install of XP and have it copy over your existing Windows installation. This way your user, accounts, profiles, settings and programs should be preserved.

Making this change is generally not recommended unless absolutely necessary -- and it may just be easier for you to get a new network/video card.

Thanks for your help. Computer, in device manager already shows as "Standard PC". I cannot find anywhere in BIOS, settings to disable ACPI. i even went to Soyo web site to look at latest MB Manual online, but there is no such setting. Bottom line I guess is video card not fully compatible with this MB. Last ditch effort, I will clear the CMOS memory. If that doesn't work, I will try to sell my video card on e-bay.

It's set at Standard PC? Then I'm pretty sure that's your problem.

I know you said you can't find the setting in BIOS to enable/disable it, but I think, if you dont wanna go through the hassle of getting a new card, I would call Soyo and ask them. Enable it, and do a clean install of your OS. It's important that you do a clean install when you change this setting.

Also, what's the model of your Soyo MB?

Thanks for your help. I give up. I have tried everything, but now I will try selling the video card on e-bay. It just will not work with my present system.
