HELP: video card not work on motherboard

I have a computer with ABIT KT7A board. It has been using an Innovision3D GeForce2 MX400 32MB card for a few years

Recently, the computer hangs when playing games - it hangs 99% of the time within 5 minutes into a 3D game. After checking, I have concluded that it was the video card at fault. I made this conclusion as I exchanged my friend's new WinFast GeForce FX5200 card and it worked fine, games played for hours without any problems.

So I decided to use another video card from another computer of mine to fix the problem: WinFast GeForce 2 Pro card

BUT...once I have that GF2Pro card installed and fired up the computer, the system just gave 1 short and 1 long beeps (usually should be just 1 short beep for normal boot) and nothing came up on the monitor. The color LEDs on the WinFast GF2PRO card also shows a red and orange light (I remember it to be green and/or orange when it was working well on another computer) So obviously the vid card is not working with this motherboard.

A quick swap back to the old GF2MX400 card solved the problem...it booted right back to Win2K (but still could not play games).

I have yet to swap the GF2Pro card back to the other computer it came from (becoz I am typing on that computer now with a new Ti4200 card) to check if it's still working fine...

Does anyone know why? or even any solutions?

I believe there is something relating to 3.3v and newer 1.5v AGP cards and AGP slots on newer boards. Can't use an old 3.3v card in a newer 1.5v slot if I remember correctly.

I haven't checked the menus regarding AGP voltages...however...

The matrix:

..........................Inno3D GF2MX400........WinFast GF2Pro..........ABIT GF4-4200.......WinFast GF5200
ABIT KT7A ....................OK.............................not OK.............................................................OK
ABIT BD7..........................................................OK.................................OK...............................
MSI 865PE-NEO2...................................................................................................................OK

a few points:

1. the Abit KT7A mobo is the oldest, then the BD7, then the MSI board. The MSI board I know definately only works with 1.5V AGP, thus the WinFast GF5200 is definately a 1.5V card. I don't think the KT7A board must use 1.5V AGP while the newer BD7 board can work with older 3.3V cards...

2. I don't think the Inno3D GF2MX400 is a 1.5V card. I haven't checked...but it was purchased mid-2001. If it was a 1.5V card, I would expect the WinFast GF2Pro - more advance and from a better brand - to be 1.5V too.

But I'll definately check the voltage just to confirm the above points.

I would if I could return them

the problematic board and vid card were both purchased 2 years ago...
and it seems it's an imcompetability problem...which more or less exists in all hardware.
