I recently hooked up my laptop (Radeon HD3200) to HDTV (only HDMI ports) by converting VGA to HDMI.
There is a static noise/sound coming from the HDTV.
I found the source to be video, not audio, of the laptop.

Any suggestion or tweak to get ride of the static noise?

Thanks for your reply, but that's not my question.
I have used a converter.
There is no problem for the HDTV to display and output audio.

However, there is a static noise (sound noise, not picture noise). I believe it's from the VGA signal because plugging/unplugging audio cable has no change, and it's gone when I unplug the VGA cable from the converter.

So, is there a way to get ride of the static noise, or something I can do to the video card to adjust its output?

Try running your laptop off its battery instead of the A/C, also switch off wi/fi, bluetooth, any other radios. See if that helps.

Sounds like an internal grounding problem to me.

What device are you using to convert VGA to HDMI? It sounds like it is leaving the audio pins on the HDMI cable floating (since VGA doesn't carry audio), and they are picking up noise. The solution would probably be to ground those pins.

Is the picture okay and the audio okay other than the static noise ?
If the audio plays but sounds scratchy or has static check the sound volume levels that they are not too high. If the sound is a humming noise really low about 50-60hz that is a ground loop.

I use VGA to HDMI converter, which has inputs for both VGA and RCA and output for HDMI.
Yes, it sounds to me like internal as well.
I read somewhere online that it could be video card outputting excessive signal in which circuit of the HDTV is too sensitive...

Both the picture and the audio are all okay.
It's just that annoying static noise in background. Its sharp pitches can almost overshadow audio output. I have to mute my HDTV and output audio from the laptop instead.
