I just installed an AMD 965, and it wouldn't boot up to windows, it immediately got a blue screen after the BIOS splash screen. I upped the voltage by 50mV and it has booted. But I'm worried now that when I go to play a game (gamin PC) it'll keep doing it. What should I do?

It's always good to post your system specs so it makes it easier for us to help you, so I went ahead and grabbed the info from your other thread:

AMD Phenom X4 965 @3.4GHz (upgraded from Athlon X2 @ 3.0GHz)
ATI Radeon 4670 512MB
500W PSU
4GB 800MHz RAM
Foxconn A7VMX-K/S motherboard (AM2+)

I used Fox Live Update to install the latest BIOS (P13)

Knowing that the mobo is AM2+, and that the Phenom II X4 965 isn't officially supported, it's probably just fine how you have it, but I would verify the default voltage for the 965 (1.375V I believe) and make sure that's what it's running at.

Thank you very much, I will try that. I am very grateful for this help, as I'm sure you know how frustrating and sometimes upsetting when your time and effort put into a computer doesn't turn out the way you expect.

Here's the CPU support list for your motherboard. Phenom II X4 is officially supported up to 3.3GHz, and the 965 is 3.4GHz. For peace of mind, I would recommend downclocking it to 3.3GHz so you don't run the risk of frying your motherboard. You may not need to bump the vcore if you do that.

By the way, it is also not running at the stock clock speed of 3.4GHz, it's at 3GHz. Any ideas on what I should do?

Well, the 965 BE (I assume yours is Black Edition) doesn't have a locked multiplier, so if your motherboard has the option to adjust the multiplier that's what you need to do. If it doesn't have multiplier adjustment, you're kinda SOL.

How do you know my motherboard will only support my 965 BE up to 3.3GHz? If possible, I'd like to run it at the stock of 3.4...

Looking at the CPU support list, the max speed of any CPU is 3.3GHZ (AM3 PhenomII×4 - 3.3GHz - Deneb - X850), so it would be wise not to run your CPU higher unless your motherboard is safe for overclocking. 100MHz won't make much of a difference anyway.

Running a CPU at a higher frequency than the board can safely handle could damage the motherboard. It could burn out in a week, or it could last a year or more, but if you don't want to take that risk then don't run your CPU higher than 3.3GHz.
