I built a machine for a co-worker on Saturday. Everything went pretty smoothly until the installation of the USB Card Reader portion of a Mitsumi FA404M Floppy/USB Card Reader. Windows would not recognize it. Since fooling with that and the drivers for that drive, it seems that all USB ports are now fried!
1) If I insert a USB stick, Windows detects it but says "USB Device Not Recognized".
(This same USB stick worked fine before messing with the Floppy.)
2) A USB mouse is not detected. (No light, no nothing!)
3) Windows does nothing if I attempt to connect an external USB harddrive. (No light, no spin-up, no nothing!)
I have already tried deleting all USB hubs & controllers in the Device Manager, but that did nothing.
Can anyone help me? Is this hardware or a Windows problem?
