I need help with this problem. The USB 2.0 PCI cards crash the computer. I installed first a CHP (generic) USB 2.0 card and it kept crashing the system (NEC chipset). I was never able to make the installation properly.

I took that out and I got a Maxtor card (NEC chipset also). The installation was a little painful, as it asked for one file I didn't have (nusb2hub.sys) so I had to cheat and rename a driver file like that (nusbd.sys). The card installs that way, and the USB 2.0 ports work fine at full speed.

However, the system still has random crashes, and sure crashes during DVD playback..... What can I do??

System
Shuttle AK35GTR (via kt266a)
Athlon XP 1800+
WD 100 GB 2 MB.
Win 2k, SP3
DirectX 8.1b

I tried also to install the 4-1 (hyperion) 4.45 but nothing happens. What should I do???

Many thanks

Alex

Well the usual stuff as explained a zillion times on this board already ... check the RAM (www.memtest86.com), the CPU cooling, and the PSU's being adequate.
