I have a UPS which is of 1KVA and i have a power supply which is corsair 750TX. In my country power is pretty crappy and unreliable so having a UPS & a surge arrester is a must.

So whenever electricity goes off from the mains my Inverter gets into action to continue providing power. However there can be a delay with the relay switching which is why having a UPS for my PC is necessary.

My setup works fine whenever electricity goes off however whenever electricity goes away while i'm gaming then the UPS fails to provide me backup and the inverter is too late for the rescue and my PC shuts down immediately.

This is a serious issue for me because i have lost 3 Hard drives in the past 2 years by this.

So how can i measure this imbalance and power usage while i'm gaming and then find a good UPS which can take the load when my PC is drawing more power whilst gaming or some other heavy task.

My current setup works fine when i'm not gaming but it completely fails when i'm gaming.

Can anyone help me resolve this issue? How can we calculate this imbalance etc?

Thanks for the link. :) I did more follow up and googling from there and it has answered my questions.

Basically i have to measure my real power and then see what i need accordingly keeping this formula in mind:
kW = √ (kVA2 - kVAR2)

Cheers mate!

NP. Hope you get it sorted out. That would drive me nuts. You know, one idea I had when you were talking about all the lost hard drives and looking to buy another battery backup would be to just revert to a higher-end laptop, as it shouldn't be affected by the power issues, but you could still play your games and such.
