I am going to move all my stuff into a new case. This'll be the first time I've done this. Are there any things I should keep in mind?
Any tips would be appreciated.

Can you list what parts you have? This will give a better idea of what can be migrated.

Watch the motherboard mountings. Make sure you get the brackets on the backplate in the correct holes. Make sure the screw heads will not touch any traces on the motherboard. If the do, use the insulating washers.
Get some cable ties at Radio Shack so you can make it look pretty and keep the cables bundled for good air flow.
Static, is a concern, try not to walk while carrying your boards. Use some of the pink or blue packaging for an anti-stactic mat to lay parts on. When setting a board on it, place your other hand on the wrapping first then lay the board on it. Use the same method when plugging cards into your motherboard is mounted in the case, except touch the case first.
I use a black permanent marker and mark the number one pin on cable headers just so I can see them easier and have less chance of reversing them. I have fairly poor eyesight though.

Have fun and enjoy your new case.

So basically, I should like focus on not corrupting the parts through electricity right? Like static electricity and the such?

wtf do you mean "make sure the screw heads dont touch the mb" are you talkin about the screws that you use to screw the mb into the case or what? i don't use washers or anything and have no probs. YOu must put in the brackets on the mb so that the mb doesnt touch the metal and short itself out. Once those are installed you are ok.

If the screw touches any of the traces on the board, potential havoc could happen to your system. Motherboard mounts are designed so screws dont touch any traces but washers are used just in case. A set of 15 cent washers could possibly save a 100 dollar motherboard.

Sudheer Anne If you would have read his post more carefully you would have noted that he said in contact with the traces on the mobo not the mobo in general.

Please before you blast a member on this Bulletin Board please get the Facts correct

By the way, what exactly are the "traces" on the mobo? Are they the silver bumps on the bottom?
