I have a couple of boxes with different mobos. In one I have a Celeron 1.7 on a Gigabyte VIA PT800 board. I tried to upgrade to a P4 2.4 1MB, but no matter what I did, it wouldn' t post. No video at all. I tried three different boards, but no go. Now I tried a new Celeron D320. Same problem. I pulled the battery on the board to reset CMOS, but no good. PLEASE HELP with any suggestions at all....

Have you tried updating the bios?

I haven't tried it. It's a brand new board, hasn't been out that long. Can't see why it would have a problem, but I'll try it. I did replace the PS, and almost everything else, so I'll try the BIOS upgarde.

What motherboards specificly are you using..does it still post with the 1.7Ghz celeron? Are you sure the boards are Prescott ready?

The Prescott 2.4GHz 533 was supported. I didn't notice that the Celeron D is only supported at 2.8GHz, not the 2.4GHz I have. This board is not real good, a Gigabyte GA-8VT800-L. It didn't boot with my Prescott 2.4 but that was before I updated the BIOS. I've never had these compatability issues before...
