Hey all,
I decided to upgrade my computer today with a shiny new i860 processor (that I got on special). I bought an Asus P55 motherboard (Asus P7P55D-E LX)and G.Skill Eco series DDR3-1600 memory (F3-12800CL7D-4GBECO). I installed everything without difficulty.
Upon first boot I received a continuous stream of beeps. I quickly realized I forgot to plug in power connector to my GeForce 8800 GT card. I fixed that promptly. 🙄
Now my system powers up, but nothing further happens. No beeping or display. I did some research, I think the problem may be the memory. DDR3-1600 doesn't appear to be totally compatible with the the i860 processor. However, I am having trouble finding a clear answer on this question.
On another note, the one time I started the system, it would power on and off every 2 seconds. I don't think I have a power supply problem. It is a high quality 600 watt Antec power supply and it was working fine with my previous system. Never-the-less, I thought I would mention this problem.
So, I hoping for some advice from the Anandtech community. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
