i need some help figuring out why i cant get a multiplier above 10.5(L1 bridges are connected, proc is unlocked). When i set it to 11 it wont boot and i have to clear cmos. Now the proc can be clocked higher by increasing the FSB from 144Mhz on up (144Mhz is best performace with the setup and is rock solid), but the PCI bus becomes unstable and i have video probles. I can solve this problem by setting the cpu command DQ from ultra to fast, but i lose performance(this is no good). Now, with DQ set to fast i can run the FSB between 175-180 rock solid but i have to take out the crucial 128MB pc 2100 cause it wont clock that high. so, whats the fricken problem, or some solutions?? any help would be good.

system:
KR7a - NON raid
Athlon XP 1600+ TB-A(not b, but whish i had it ;) )
crucial 128 pc2100 cas2
samsung 256 pc3200 cas3
AIW8500 DV
sb live value autigy 5.1(spellin)
smc nic 1244tx

mem settings: cas 2 2-5-2 1t @144mhz

well i can change the multiplier from 10.5 on down to 6, just not above 10.5!! would a locked proc be able to use lower multipliers??

I've not mod'ed my Barton 2500+, and I can choose from 5+ all the way up to 25+. I believe it has more to do with your motherboard than mods to the chip. I had a XP 2200+ before the barton (Tbred), and needed no mod for that chip to change the multiplier either. I'm using the FIC AN19E m/b, with the KT400 chipset.

thanks guys... ill try to remove the mod and test it. Then ill remod and see if its the proc or the board.

I have no real clue i was reading it on the abit forums to OC a xp1700 on kg7r.

Forum - Thread

I'm guessing it has to do w/ the motherboard not supporthing any faster multiplier that is needed to get past the 2100 xp limit but I really dont know. Anways the smart guy on that forum is PeterT. He says hes gettin his xp1700 dlt3c tbred b to oc 2.4 ghz w/o any stability issues and this is on a KG7-RAID but i doubt ill get anything remarkable w/ my weak TBREDA when i was praying for a TBREDB

heh i have a tbredB 1800+ DUT3C and its overclocking capabilities are just.. god awful, 1.833ghz with 1.675v stable...

but cant get stable at 2ghz no matter what i try (at least not prime95 stable) at 1.8v i can boot into windows without it saying corrupt files, at 1.85v its still unstable (wasnt going to go higher than 1.85v)

board epox 8rda+ ;)

well I screwed up again by not reading everything. If you follow the link at the bottom of the page/painting guid titled:

"Important comments about using the new interactive AMD T-Bred painting guide !!!"

It says at the bottom:

"
Close all L1 bridges if you want to change the multiplier via BIOS or Jumper.
Otherway leave all L1 connections open.
The multiplier settings by jumper or DIP-Switch doesn't work on several boards,
because they don't "know" the newer multiplier IDs.
That's why i've created the new interactive XP painting guide ;-)
"

I dont know if this applies to me or you though so some help would be nice *cough ChampionAtTufshop cough*
I have a KG7-RAID and im probably going to post on the abit forums if i don't get any help soon that is when i decide to quit being lazy and register at abit. Also i remebering reading that you had to mess around w/ the bios to get a higher multiplier but dont remeber where he started.

My guess is it applies to me and you though. Also I dont know how very well reversible this process is and i cant read in german so I'd find out more or how to reverse it if it is possible. If someone knows please post and how...havent OCed anything yet but I am going to have alot of free time now that I just bombed my last final :(
