Help Undervolt MSI R9 270

This is a non X R9 270 from MSI, looking for a way to undervolt.

Preferably this would be a soft mod via windows, if possible to avoid bios flashing.

However if its a necessity will flash bios as a 2ndary option.

Pretty experienced w/ GPU overclocking, but not so much w undervolting - would very much appreciate instructions.

Thanks!

Try Sapphire TriXX utility. It works excellent even on cards where afterburner wouldn't. It lacks the monitoring portion of Afterburner, but I dont value it much. I use aida for monitoring anyway.

I undervolted my 7870 to 1.0 V while mining. Unfortunetely it is unstable for playing games. BF4 crashes after a couple of seconds of playtime.

Good luck!

This does not work on R9 270. Trixx changes values, however GPU-Z reveals that nothing is changed.

MSI afterburner works for both of my 7870s. It definitely works (unlike some other utilities) since my temps are significantly lower while mining.

GPU-Z may be wrong. The easiest way to check if it works is to stress test GPU on stock - note the temperature or power draw. Decrease voltage by 0,1V and check again. If there is a difference, it works.
The voltage needs to be changed by a meaningful value to notice be certain it works.

EDIT: Alternatively you can set voltage do something ridiculously low, like 0,5V and run any 3d app/stress tests. If it crashes - it works 😉

You will likely need to modify your bios to achieve this and there are plenty of tutorials available for doing so. I don't know what it will do to your warranty, but I would say always backup the bios from the card first and keep it handy. Good luck
