I upgraded to win media player 7.0 a while ago, it was working fine. Now, whenever I try to open ANY video file format, it hangs my system. I removed it and went back to WMP 6.4, exact same thing. I reinstalled WMP 7.0, same thing. As a test, I installed RealPlayer, exact same thing...locked system requiring a cold boot. I can play audio files using WMP 7.0 and realplayer, no problem.
I built a system nearly identical to mine a few months ago, and he is reporting the same problem to me.
