so i wanted to download this free mmorpg called runes of magic and it took more than 6 hours to load so i left it over night and slept. Then it said it was done and i pressed start game and it said something like, your GPU does not meet the system requirement to play this game..... WTF!
I checked the site for the full version and all of the computer system requirements listed on the site matched up to mine for mycomputer. So in the mean time, im downloading the slim version, way less gb, but my system meets the system requirements. SO CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME AND TELL ME HOW TO DOWNLOAD THE FULL VERSION OF THIS GAME BECAUSE IT SAYS LESS TEXTURES WITH SLIM VERSION?!?!?!?!?!?!?

(and what are textures....)

First off, welcome to the forums!

Do you know what graphics card you have, or if you have one at all? Please post your system specs, or let us know if you do you know how and one of us can give you some step by step instructions.

"Runes of Magic System Requirements

Minimum system requirements
Intel Pentium 4 2.0 GHz or equivalent
RAM: 512MB or more
HDD 3.62GB

DirectX 9.0c compatible with 128MB RAM Video Card
Broadband Internet Connection
Keyboard and Mouse"

As Lazarus said, what video card do you have in the computer? If it is an old card with less than 128 MB of RAM, or an onboard adapter that doesn't support DirectX 9.0c or that can't access 128 MB or more of shared memory, then you won't be able to play the game. If your video card does meet the requirements, try upgrading the drivers to the newest version available from the manufacturer.

The "slim" version of the game is a smaller download size because it contains fewer (and lower resolution) graphics textures. This means that the game will not look as good as it would with the full textures, but it doesn't have any effect on actual game play.

Ok so here is wat ive got(ITS KINDA LONG BUT PLEASE I NEED HELP)

(PLEASE DO ME A FAVOR AND READ THE WHOLE THING, IT TOOK ME KINDA A LOT OF WORK... -.-)

Manufacture: Hewlett-Packard Company
Model: p6110y
Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5300 @ 2.60GHz
Memory (RAM): 6.00 GB
System type: 64-bit Operating System

Also I do have Kapersky virus protection and as I type i am dowloading the slim version if this game. As of now, it is having the same problem I did while i was downloading the full version.

MY EXACT PROBLEM IS THAT ONCE THE "RUNES OF MAGIC" SMALL BOX SAYS DONE DOWNLOADING,(WHICH TAKES ABOUT 2 HOURS) THERE IS A BIGGER BOX THAT COMES UP ON THE SCREEN THAT SAYS START GAME ON IT. HOWEVER!!! IT WONT LET ME CLICK IT BECAUSE THERE IS MORE DOWNLOADING TO DO. THIS IS WHERE MY BIG PROBLEM COMES. THERE ARE TWO BARS IN THE BOTTOM OF THIS LITTLE BOX. ONE OF THEM SAYS UPDATE AND THE OTHER SAYS DOWNLOAD. THEY ALSO BOTH HAVE PERCENTAGES NEXT TO THEM AS TO WHEN THEY WILL BE FINISHED. HOWEVER, THE DOWNLOAD BAR ALWAYS! FINISHED FIRST AND THE UPDATE BAR WOULD STOP. THEN MY KAPERSKY VIRUS PROTECTION WOULD POP UP AND SAY SOMETHING LIKE "PASSWORD PROTECTED". THEN THE BIG BOX WOULD GO AWAY AND POP UP AGAIN WITH BOTH THE DOWNLOAD BAR AND UPDATE BAR BOTH AT 0! IT WOULD DO THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN UNTILL I GOT PISSED OFF AND LEFT TO GO OVERNIGHT. IN THE MORNING I COULD PRESS START GAME AND IS SAID "YOUR GPU DOES NOT MEET THE GAMES REQUIREMENTS". I IGNORED THIS MESSAGE AND LOGGED ONTO RUNES OF MAGIC. ONCE I LOGGED ON IT SAID, PLEASE CHECK YOUR NETWORK CONNECTION AND FIREWALL SETTINGS. I TURNED OFF MY FIREWALL AND I THEN CONFIRMED MY NETWORK WAS WORKING PERFECT!!!! I LOGGED ON ANOTHER TIME, IT SAID THE GPU THING, AND THE NET WORK CONNECTION FIREWALL THING AGAIN AND DOESNT WORK.

(IF THERE IS ANY OTHER INFORMATION YOU NEED THEN PLEASE TELL ME)

I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIND THE GAME CARD THING BUT HAVE DOWNLOADED WORLD OF WARCRAFT FREE TRIAL SO I THINK I DO HAVE ONE)

I've done a quick search on HP website. The P6110Y comes with the Intel GMA 3100 integrated graphics. This is a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter.

To check the amount of memory... probably in the Display control panel (but I'm guessing you've got Vista 64, which I've never used so don't know)

To change the amount of memory available you probably need to look in the BIOS. To get there, you usually press a button during initial boot - before any Windows loading screens. Which button? Often "Del" but can be others.
Could someone else give any further hints here? I'm not 100% sure.

Next, could you write EXACTLY the message Kapersky Antivirus throws up?

Hi!

Runes of Magic downloader uses a p2p type client. The slim uses a little less memory but the downgrade in texture quality is very apparent in some places. I would suggest getting the slim anyway regardless.

The slim and the advanced client are BOTH full clients, just one has the full textures and higher quality audio.

If you want the advanced client it's on this page http://www.runesofmagic.com/en/download.html. Click download advanced client.

Or in the case of the US it's here http://us.runesofmagic.com/us/downloads,client,us.html and is known as original client.

Some virus protections, even Norton's Sonar does have problems with the update process, which is what is happening with the launcher. Please disable the protection till the update process has completed.

YOU MAY NEED TO REINSTALL TOTALLY IF THE AV HAS INTERRUPTED AN UPDATE.

You may have to purchase a graphics card for the game to run correctly though, Sorry. There is a very slim chance it would give respectable frame rates. Runes of Magic is pretty poorly coded and anything less than a 8600GT will choke unless on absolutely low visual settings.

Trust me, you don't want to run the game with low settings, there is oh.. that's kind of okay to downright yikes! Terrible graphics.

Also, their login servers have been down a lot this weekend... They had this special event on and got over-run.

Without the right card you should still be able to login though. I would reinstall the client, then run the launcher to update but turn off the AV protection while it updates.

Also please update your graphics driver, it may help as the onboard graphics does have software shaders which will be slower but should allow you to play.

This is the latest driver for GMA 3100. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17409&lang=eng

These chips are minimum Intel required :

Intel Integrated Support*

Chipsets: Intel 945, 965, Q963, G31, Q33, Q35
Core Models: Intel GMA 950, 3000, X3000, X3100, X3500, X4
Minimum required dedicated video RAM: 128MB
Hard disk space: 6GB
DirectX: 9.0c**

*Integrated Intel GPUs have issues with games. They are designed for economy not performance and cause issues with games. There is a good chance the game wont run on Intel integrated GPUs. Runes of Magic may run and display, but game performance will be slow. In-game video settings should be set at Low and all special effects should be turned off (i.e, uncheck the boxes.)

**This Spec doesn't mean what version of DX you have installed, it means which version your video card supports in firmware (i.e, built into the video chipset).
