HELP! Turned my 120GB Xbox360 Drive into a 20GB

I was trying to use the data transfer cable to move the files from my original 20GB drive to the new 120GB drive that came with my Elite. But of course I bought the f'ing Chinese cable with no actual software except Xport360. So I thought I did the transfer right but messed up something.

Now my 120GB drive is showing up as a 16GB drive on my Xbox360 dashboard. It will let me setup the drive 120GB drive when connected to the data transfer cable, but when I take off my original drive and plug the 120GB into the top of the Xbox it says no device found...not sure what the hell I did.

Thanks.

Thanks. I'll check that out.

I am going to try following the steps described to using a regular 120GB hard drive. I am guessing I messed up the partition tables or something. Crap.

I think you "cloned" your 20 gig drive to your 120. Xport360 is really at good this kind of cloning technology. If that's the case, you are likely toast since the original 120 gig firmware might be deleted and only other option would be to create a new drive with the 120 gig with a generic hdd bin, however, it is the worst case type and hope it won't come to that.

Maybe you should have transfer your save file with the usb drive instead.....

I was afraid of this. With nothing to lose I am going to try using a generic bin.

I should have transferred the files using the USB in retrospect. Now the 120gb won't even show up on the Xbox.

Thanks.

Did you find a solution for this problem? I think I did the same thing and accidentally formatted my 120GB drive as a 16GB USB plug-in instead of just transferring files. Now it is only recognized using the data cable, so I can't even plug it back into the 360 and format it as a normal drive.
