I can ping the printer and it's fine. I can even install the printer driver and 'ADD' using HP's network wizard. However, when i go to a computer that doesn't have this printer maped.. and i just want to 'add new printer' and try adding via IP, it doesn't see it!

however, if i ping the IP (192.168.0.105) then it finds it! Any help?? Thanks!!

I believe you have to add a port for the printer at each computer you want to use it at.

Install the driver for that printer.
Then, go to the properties for that printer and select the ports tab.
Add a new port.

This works in XP anyway. 98 didn't have this ability if I recall correctly. I'm not sure about 2000 or ME.

to prevent deadlock, you should create a tcpip queue on 1 pc and make it shared via the network. then let everyone browse to the shared printers on that pc and install it from there.

alternately, install that printer as a local printer on every pc. then in the printer properties add a tcpip port to the driver and make it the default print to port.
