Edit:

Easiest way is to use the minimum amount of the quietest fans. Use quiet hard drive.

I'm designing an enclosure for the system now and am trying to solve the cooling issue. It's cooling vs sound !!

any 80mm heatsink should do fine. the best ones out now are the alpha pal8045, and the Swiftech MC462A. there's one coming out soon, the thermalright ax7, and that promises to be very competitive with these two. the alpha, i believe, will give you the best value, as you can get one for under 40 shipped, whereas the other two will cost you 70+.

the glacier 68 is a good cooler, but the alpha is better. since you are going to be using an expensiove chip, i am gonna say go with the alpha and don't risk it. you can get it at JokerF15's site for 29.99 he is a long time ATer that just opened a site and has some good prices. check it out at case-mod.com

btw, he sells the g68 too, but forgot the price, should be reasonablle. support ur fellow ATer since you are gonna buy one anyway!

*edit*
just checked the price, he has the g68 for 12.99 plus free arctic alumina....good deal. but i still recommend the alpha :)

Anyone know how to sound proof a small mdf hinged door?

I don't think it's possible to make an inaudible system unless the entire system is enclosed and vented to another room via air duct. Anyone have ideas?

Looks like the solution is to just wait a bit.

Check out Cooler Master's web page.

The have a series of Silent HSFs coming soon. The DP5-7H53F-0L looks pretty cool. Good for up to and beyond the 2000+ and 28dba. They also have ones with speed control that go from 26 to 38 dba.

That SVC 68 looks like a pretty good cooler. What speed Athlon does it top out at? (I think you ran it against a duron of some sort.)

Nevermind. The SVC place lists it as good for an athlon 1800+. At under $20 shipped I'll give it a shot.
