It was a 2d game, side scroller, all i remember is the doors were like this membrane that you shoot 3-4 times and then you can pass through?

Super Metroid?

It almost always is the most obvious, which is why I always start with the more obvious ones first and work my way through to the more obscure 😀

I never liked it as a kid. It's one of those games I've always wanted to go back to and try again, because I think I'd like it a lot more now.

Me too, along with the Final Fantasy titles and Zelda. I couldn't play Zelda as a kid, I was into Contra, Ninja Gaiden, Double Dragon, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. I did play Mario though. It wasn't as complicated to pay attention to.

What an excellent game. One of the best.

I was going to finish Illusion of Gaia again tonight, but now I want to play this.

I don't know why the only thing I remember is the doors. Too much information overload these days my childhood memory is really bad.

Blue bubble doors (most doors) would open in one shot. Other doors required 5 missiles or a super missile to break the seal the first time.

Play through Super Metroid. It's great.

If you're the type to even know what "SNES" means in 2015, you would know what Super Metroid is!

If you play it you will need a decent controller. No XBOX 360 controllers... PLEASE!

Yeah, no 360 controllers. Glad I have an Xbox One.
