Help To figure out why I cant use my ATA66 cable with KT7??

I have Abit KT7 and Maxtor DM plus and the only way this mobo will work is if i use my old ATA 33 cable I have tried 3 new ATA 66 cables and system will not detect hard drive using it anyone else have this trouble or know whats wrong??

You must use the 80 conductor cable that comes with the motherboard.It is the one with the blue connector.It is backward compatible with ATA 33 and 66.The old cables are 40 conductor and will not work with ATA 100.Hope this helps!
