Hi
Here is my system:

INTEL PENTIUM 4 3.2E GHZ
Zalman CNPS7000A w/ cooler master high performance thermal compound
ASUS P4C800-E DELUXE
OCZ PC3200 DDR400 1024MB KIT (512MB X 2) 2-3-2-5
ENERMAX EG651P-VE(FMA) 550W
Thermaltake Xaser V Damier (v6000a)
Seagate 160GB 7200RPM SATA
Sony?s Double Layer DVD+RW Drive DRU-700A

I am getting temperature from 44C(idle) to 58C(work). Any suggestion on lowering
these temperatures?
This is my first built system, so I am a newbie.

Get some Arctic Silver 5. It supposed to be really effective. Newegg.com definitely has some. Otherwise, just add a few fans and make sure there's enough circulation in your case. Some cases are better at keeping thins cooler than others...

I use cooler master high performance thermal compund. Is that goo enough?
and I already have 5 fans for my Thermaltake case.
Thanks

Hmm, I don't really know about that compound...but it seems as if you have a plethora of case fans. Try and find out which specific device(s) is running hot. And how is the circulation in your case? Do the fans blow air over the key components such as the CPU, hard drive, and video card? Also, you might be generating unneccessary power and heat from that 550W power supply...

I just read some reviews from newegg.com about p4 3.2 ghz. It seems most people have the same concern about heat issue but they also said it's ok to run at 50-60 celcius.
I haven't have any problem when i play doom3 @58 celcius. I just hope it don't go higher then 60 C.

Yeah, try some AS5 like previously suggested. I averaged a 3C temp drop on my P4 3Ghz. With stock HSF I'm at 40-41C idle, 54-55C under load and peak at about 57-58C on long gaming sessions.

I have a similar issue, I have a pentium-4 3.2 and am having temps about 60-62C. I've been looking for a good cooling method to use...using retail pack cooling fins and fan now. My case is a thermaltake and it has like 5 fans as well. I was looking at some bigger chip coolers like the aerocool ht100 tower....any feedback on how those work?

thanks!

I use XP-90 with 92mm fan at 3100 rpm with AS5. Idle temps are 38, load 45. The XP-90 is the best heatsink for the S478.
