i have 75frn2 mobo with a raptor hd

i connected raptor to sata1 connector

i tried to setup raid 0 with this mobo (manual said you can setup raid 0 with 1 hd)

i am getting error

error occurred while modifying array!

HELP!!!!

You can't RAID 1 drive.

Redundant Array of Independent Disks

You have to have more than one. Maybe they mean you can run a single HDD on the controller. But I'm betting its impossible to RAID it.

manual says

"FastTrak 376 allows users to create striped arrays with 1 or 2 drives"

am i misunderstanding something?

manual also stated that

1) An array for performance in stripping type with 1 or 2 drives ( or called RAID 0)

2) An array of data security in mirroring type with 2 drives treated as one disk array (or called RAID 1)

You'll need a second drive if you want RAID0 (or RAID1). It might be worth reading more about RAID here. Have fun with your new system! 🙂

do you need 2 identical hardisk to setup raid 0?

i have raptor and 80 wd sE hardisk can i setup raid 0?

also how do i boot from sata?

Hey guys, yes you can 'stripe' 1 disk, kinda.

Hold on, before you flame, some of the Promise RAID controllers will allow you to run a single hard disk on the controller. If you plug a single drive in, and go to the Promise RAID BIOS to set it up, it will set the single drive as a "1+0 stripe array".

I KNOW this is technically incorrect/impossible, but the guys at Promise have set their BIOS up that way. Confusing, to say the least.

So, yeah, you can set up one drive, and BIOS will report it as a "1+0 stripe array", but thats not the correct wording.
