Tonight i was bored so i started tweaking on my 1.33 bird... on an epox 8k7a with 256 crucial 256 generic with nanya chips... i pulled the nanya cause i can't get over 142 fsb stable... I've ran this bird at 1.6 before 11x145 i think and 12x133. so i know the bird will fly... Well i set the mult at 10 fsb at 150 with my ram timings at 8882622 on the 8k7a booted and ran just fine next attempt 155 this time i changed the timing to 888362.53 and it booted just fine into windows... So i was like what the hell lets try it at 8882622 on the timings... It was a no go... Put them back ti 888362.53 no go... Dropped the FSB back to 133 same timings no go... Finally i got the bastard to boot up and i got errors out the ass.... Now i'm not able to even format this drive... I put it on my other computer running Win2k and it won't boot with the drive connected... The bios is recognizing the drive on both computers... I tried to use a win98 boot disk and fdisk the sob and can't even do that... I'm running win2k on it eerrrr well i was until this happened... I think the drive took a sh!t on me and died but i'm usure... If bios picks it up i would think its still functioning it spins up sounds fine it just won't find nothing on the drive... I had it formatted with ntfs so i'm wondering if that could be some of my problems any idea or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bryan

Put the suspect drive on your other computer on the secondary IDE. Boot up. Go to Explorer and see if you can read the drive. If not, try to format it from within win2k.

I put it in the other system and the other system wouldn't boot with it in... This was my main drive with the OS on it so getting into Win2k with it was out of hte question... I went to IBM's site download their utility and got it back up... I however lost EVERYTHING about 6 gigs worth of mp3's that i had ripped... All of my setup files and everything... Thank god i'll be getting cable tomorrow cause i'm gonna have a lot of downloading ahead of me... When i ran the utility it pulled up some bad sectors and stuff... After i reworked the drive with it don't show any bad sectors anymore... I've heard horror stories with DDR ram and overclocking and now just found out about it the hard way....

Like what?!?!? I know LOTS of people that oc, including me, with DDR RAM and haven't had any problems. Show me some links to DDR/oc'ing horror stories.

have you tried downloading the manufacturers hard drive utility to check the status of the hard drive? i also had corruption of my registry when i pushed my memory to far.

i have some nanya chips here and was wondering how good they were

I don't have any link i'm not one that saves thousands of useless link only the ones i need... Go to amdmb.com forums and you'll read enough of themm... U must not have pushed the envelope enough on your ddr to corrupt your registery and boot.ini files and totally fubar the data on the hard drive... I got ibm's utility and had to totally recondition the drive to get it back up don't know what it did but it screwed everything up... Oh well i'm sitting on a nice clean install of WinXP this morin' so oh well..
