Help: System hangs usually when working and doesn't always reboot.......thanks

Yes, I'm running win98se with a tbird 1.2ghz/asus a7vkt133a
My system hangs for a few seconds every now and again.
Whats the best way to try to workout this problem?

also it won't usually restart it just hangs when it says windows is shutting down.

What brand power supply? Ram specs? Cmos tweaks?

It is an Antec sx830 case with a 300w Antec Smartpower supply

No overclocking, I don't think i'm going to either.

I have a stick of crucial 256 CLS 2 pc133
