Help Switching from Intel To Athlon

Ok, so, I have been an Intel man all my life, never using anything else. I believe it is time to take the step over, the thing is I know nothing about AMD processors. Can anyone give me a brief overview or post a link where i can learn about these chips.

For example, I saw a processer on pricewatch that had like a 1600 mhz FSB. Is that correct? But then I see people talking about there amd 250 mhz fsb.

Then I heard people talking about HTT, and setting it to 4, what is that?

Ok I don't claim to be an expert on AMD but from what I've always understood AMD does their speed ratings different than Intel. With AMD lower ghz than Intel doesn't mean their processor is slower. Like my Athlon 64 clocked at 2.4ghz is beating a Pentium 4 clocked at 4ghz in Sandra Sisoft benchmarks. A good baseline for the fastest AMD out right now would be the FX-55 which is clocked at 2.6ghz. Hope that helps a little.

Two different things here. First , theres no real FSB. But the processor talks to memory at the equivalent of fsb x multiplier. Winchester 3200+ is 10 x 200 =2 ghz cpu speed stock. The HTT is a different channel, and that is equivalent of fsb x multiplier for HTT or for the 3200+ 200 x 5 = 1000 bidirectional = 2000 HTT speed.

Thanks guys, but can I get some more information, maybe a link or such.

Pull up AT's CPU articles and look at the earlier A64 ones. They go indepth on the design of the chip.
