Help! Strange problems on my computer

Hi,
Pls help me fix it up.
It happened after I installed 60Gb HDD. My CD-ROM and CD-RW can't be detected. Then I opened my case and did nothing and closed it again. Both CD-ROM and CD-RW can be detected. But new strange problem occured. It showed "NTLDR is missing! Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart."after setup. My computer can't run any more. I tried to restart my computer a few times. Same problem again!
My computer is Gateway 6400 with Win2K installed. Pls help me!!
Thanks.

Check to see that the ribbon cables plugged in correctly, then check the jumpers on the back of each drive to make sure that they are set correctly (Master/Slave). Hope this helps.

Also after you've done that, start the machine up with the case covers off.
If it boots then maybe something inside is touching something it shouldn't......

I feel your pain dude. I believe the thing it cant find is the bootloader for the nt kernel.. I would suggest you run the recovery from the win2k cd. if you dont have the win2k cd and only a rescue cd from the coporate giant you bought you machine from. I say god help ya! I am not sure it you run the recovery from that disk that you will end up with all your programs intact.
That would be the worst case scenerio. reinstall win2k and all you proggies and apps..
Good luck.
Oh and first I would check to see if you made the harddrive active. if it aint made active the it wont be bootable...
I dont know how to verify or do this in win2k natively I use Partition Magic.

You added a 60GB HD...did you keep the old one in the system?

As ojai00 asks, is new one connected as a slave and jumpered as such?

Also, dumb question, but I gotta ask...did you forget to remove a floppy from the drive?

Hi,

It works again after I opened it and clean it using the vaccum. It is so funny that I don't know how to say.
I added my new HDD as single device on the IDE cable. I have two more SCSI HDDs on the SCSI cable.
I also leave my floppy drive in my computer. Let's see what will happen next.
Thanks any way.
