(HELP) Standard Mode: Fault outside of MS-DOS extender

Hello All,
I'm trying to get a old pc I have up an running again, the harddrive went out an I got a new one to stick in it. When trying to install Windows (98 or 95) it keeps saying Standard Mode: Fault Outside Of MS-DOS Extender, can someone please tell me what I need to do to fix this problem?

Bad RAM, overclocked/overheated CPU, flaky mobo (unlikely), or... what speed is your CPU? I'm wondering if your CPU is too fast, if it is causing a divide-by-zero fault in a driver somewhere before it gets to load, or something.

I would try testing your memory with Memtest86+ first. If that shows fine, then try downclocking your CPU and installing.

I have had similar errormessages. I think that your RAM-cards is not compatible with your harddrive or that you have installed your RAM-cards falsely. They are only allowed to be installed in couples or one single.

I got it one of the ram sticks I was trying to use was bad.
