My computer always shuts off when I open a new program.
Its not just one program, its random ones.
It's not the power supply because I replaced it with a new one and it still does it, just not that often.
I unlocked the 1GHz Duron but its currently not overclocked. The voltage is at the mobo default.
Could some of the bridges have worn away?

Shuttle AK31A
AMD DURON 1.0GHz unlocked but not OC'd
WD 40GB HD
WINXP
128 DDR PC2100

well, even though it is a new power supply, it seems to me as though the problem you're having is related to power. however, i would wait for a few more replies on here before you do anything, as there are people here who know more on this than me.

I know that it's not the power supply itself because the new one has been in another computer that ran flawlessly for months.

Shuts off? You mean, the power is completely gone? Or does it just hang?

Sounds weird.

I believe there was a problem in some AK31A's which caused the mobo to not give the CPU enough power. I think if you connect the L7 (I'm prolly wrong, if so correct me :p) bridges, your processor'll default at 1.85v and that might help.

www.amdmb.com has some helpful forums that might help address the issue.

The CPU defaults at 1.85V anyway. Upping the voltage doesn't do anything.
