Antec P160 case
ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe mobo
4x 512Mb Crucial Ballistix RAM
Intel P4 3.4 800 FSB
Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu Cooler
Sapphire X800XT video
LSI Logic MegaRAID 150-4 SATA Raid controller
4x WD SATA 250G drives
Plextor 712SA DVD +-RW

All stock speeds, no overclocking anywhere.

Got XP Pro to go through the install procedure ok but right when the setup is finished and it reboots to let you in to XP for the first time, I get rebooted. It happens right on the Windows XP screen where those little green bars would start going across left to right.

Any ideas out there?

Safe mode doesn't work either. Tried that a while back.

Does anyone know what the computer is actually doing while those little blocks are going across the screen? I mean, is there some set procedure that its going through that could give me some idea of what is failing?

Have you tested your RAM thoroughly?

I can't get the OS to load, so how could I test it? 🙂

Seriously tho, since I'm not OC'ing at all, even if I were using cheap ram (which this Ballistix stuff sure isn't), wouldn't it have caused errors during the install process?

I would definatly run memtest. Also, you didn't mention what you had for a PSU, a weak or generic PSU could also cause similar problems, especialy since you have 4 hard drives, an x800, and a 3.4ghz P4.

The PSU is an Enermax Noisetaker 600W

Interesting development tho ..

As an experiment I removed one drive from the array and hooked it up to the mobo SATA controller to used as a C: drive.

Windows installed and everything runs fine. Windows sees the RAID array and all. So something about booting from that RAID controller was funky. Not sure what but I've got a ticket in with LSI tech support to ask the question.

If you didn't already, also raise your memory voltage to 2.7 volts or so, don't leave it starving on AUTO.
