HELP Sony VAIO visible screen size

How to control the size of the visible part of the screen of the laptop? it is now minimized (shrunk) to about quarter of the full size of the LCD and changing the resolution naturaly has no effect. it is also like that in command prompt.
can anyone help?

Have you tried installing the base level (top of the generic list) LCD video driver?

On the face of it, that doesn't seem possible. It sounds as though the &quot;stretch to fit&quot; item in the BIOS is turned off. But, if that's so, then changing the resolution from 640x480 to 800x600 to 1024x768 (You get the idea.) would result in progressively larger areas of the screen being used for the desktop display (smaller black borders around the desktop). You say it's also like that &quot;in command prompt&quot;. Can you elaborate on that? Do you mean when booted to a true DOS prompt or from a full-screen DOS prompt within Windows?
