Whenever i download any large application (20MB or more) off the internet the files always give me some sort of CRC error or file corrupt message. I tried downloading 3Dmark03, 3Dmark2001, halflife patches, and all of them give me those errors. Even after deleting and downloading the same file multiple times, the same errors still come up and I have no idea what to do. I formatted and reinstalled windows but still no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

System Specs:
AMD athlon XP 1600+ (not overclocked)
Asus A7V333 non raid
512MB Corsair low latency RAM (which I just put in)
Aopen Geforce Ti 4200 128MB (using 40.72 dets)
80GB western digital SE
plextor 12/10/32A
sound blaster live
realtek NIC
Windows XP pro (didnt install SP1)

What kind of connection do you have? I used to have problems like that on really crappy dial-up connections a few years back.

What type of connnection do you have to the internet? What ever is between you and it, may be bad.

I have a cable connection provided by RCN. I also have a netgear wireless router connected for my laptop.

Try taking the wireless system out of the picture and connect directly to your cable modem.

If I have to guess (and, we'll we all are ;)), I'd say bad network cable, coiled network cable, or a network cable running along with a power cable. It's suprising how an OK looking network cable can actually be damaged and manifest the problem in random errors such as those you are indicating.

True. Even a cable that passes with one of those cheap cable "testers" can still have problems. I'd second the suggestion to eliminate the wireless variable and try again (check with a different cable, also).

well i first removed the router and tried to d/l a file but still got an erorr, then i switched the cable and re-downloaded and still no luck. this other problem might be related but i think there might be a problem with my RAM slots because the system wont boot if i put my RAM in slots 1 or 2 of my board. when in slot 3 it boots fine but i have a feeling if the first 2 are messed up the third one cant be running up to par either. every once in a while ill get a random reboot, or some other error, and i think by changing the board everything will hopefully get fixed. Now i just need to get ahold of a new Mboard to test my theory.
